Senior Designer - Nashville Location

A Furniture Senior Designer at ID+A works closely with Account Executives to design and specify spaces of any complexity. A senior designer is expected to have a deep understanding of industry products and processes, as well as internal processes. He/she shall be comfortable presenting to and meeting with clients, proposing a variety of furniture and design solutions, fully specifying and pricing a project, and on-site field verifications. Above all, a senior designer must demonstrate a willingness to take the initiative and continuously find opportunities to learn.


Education, Experience + Attributes

Minimum two years’ experience in interior design or contract furniture design.
Bachelor’s degree in interior design/architecture.
State of Tennessee Registered Interior Designer (Preferred)
NCIDQ Certification (Preferred)
Proficient in AutoCAD, CAP, CET, and commercial furniture programs (Scout + INDEAL) – Training will be provided for agreed-upon needs.
Intermediate knowledge of Interior Design process and deliverables and Interior Construction process and deliverables.
Proficiency in Microsoft including One Drive, Teams, and Outlook.

Major Functions of the Position

Space plan and provide wholistic design solutions to customers, not limited to furniture solutions.
Accurately specify and price design solutions.
Continuously improve skills in areas not limited to: product knowledge, software, trends, processes, etc.
Provide mentorship to junior designers and coordinate with Furniture Design Lead to elevate their skills.
Adhere to ID+A internal processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction, using problem-solving skills when needed.

Essential Duties:

Communicate effectively with Account Executives to accomplish customer goals, including pre-sale qualifiers like budgeting, estimator tools, and Scout, etc.
Communicate effectively with internal teams, including those in other physical locations, such as Louisville and Lexington, KY.
Present to and meet with clients with or without Account Executive to move design projects through design process.
Deep expert in at least one aspect of furniture design (workstations, walls, ancillary, specific manufacturers, CAP, CET, healthcare, GSA, etc.).
Take initiative in problem solving, both for internal and external problems.
Produce deliverables for each stage of design, not limited to: proposals, revisions, sign-off documents, and installation drawings.
Expert in CET, CAP, MillerKnoll products, and top-tier mfg. partners (SOI, OFS, JSI, etc.).
Field measure and site verification for accuracy.
Perform Design Requirements in ID+A Process including CORE duties.
Participate in Design Audits (self-check, requesting, and performing for others).

Participate in-person and/or virtual training and learning opportunities.
Actively share knowledge with Furniture Design Team.
Work with Interior Construction and Interior Design teams to provide fully integrated solutions.
Provide constant feedback to Furniture Design Lead that may improve processes, training, mentorship, etc.

Operations Service Net and Intermarket Project Coordinator

General ID+A is a Specialty Contractor whose business is the planning, design, and creation of our customer's corporate, health and learning spaces. We possess in-house expertise in design, pre-fab construction, furniture, fixtures & equipment and technical services. Our customers come to us because they want one point of contact for the design and execution of their interior projects throughout Kentucky, Southern Indiana, and Tennessee.

All at ID+A will:

  • Cooperate with ID+A employees, ID+A Customers, contractors and dealers
  • Follow ID+A process – ID+A Way and all departmental sub-processes
  • Live and support ID+A Values: Growth Mindset, Refuse to Lose, Fast/Responsive, Loyal, Fun/Passionate

Service Net Inbound & Outbound Coordination & Management:

  • Serve as the primary contact for MillerKnoll Service Net dealers nationwide and other dealers requiring intermarket project management, installation, and delivery.
  • Ensure prompt and effective communication with internal management, design and service teams, external network managers, facilities or building management, general contractors (GCs), and subcontractors.

Inbound:

  • Respond to system project Requests for Quotation (RFQs).
  • Provide labor estimates, either internally or sourced externally, for dealer approval.
  • Input approved estimates into the ID+A system as new projects.
  • Verify job site details.
  • Coordinate the delivery and installation of projects.
  • Oversee projects to completion, ensuring all required project information is received.
  • Review Service Net backlog weekly to maintain project and system integrity.
  • Obtain customer sign-offs (Proof of Delivery - POD).
  • Manage, report, and follow the punch list process if necessary.
  • Initiate project billing to originating dealers.
  • Review Service Net accounts receivable bi-weekly and initiate collection efforts if required.

Approve subcontractor payables if applicable.

Outbound:

  • Respond to internal requests for project delivery and installation outside of ID+A territory.
  • Complete RFQs with scopes of work and forward them to servicing dealers for projects in the system.
  • Act as the liaison between the servicing dealer and the ID+A salesperson or team.
  • Manage projects to completion, involving project management as necessary.
  • Provide servicing dealers with all project information, including product lists, acknowledgments, and drawings.
  • Coordinate and share project details with the ID+A Project Coordinator to ensure accuracy in customer billing and approval of payables.
  • Broad Assistance to Operations:•Provide backup scheduling and assistance as needed.
  • Familiarize oneself with the internal scheduling system and processes.
  • Gain knowledge of all subcontractors (vendor matrix) and various project types.
  • Develop proficiency and assist in generating project labor quotes, obtaining Statements of Work (SoW) from sales or project management teams.


Position is full time and reports to the ID+A Operations Center in Louisville, KY. It requires a high degree of customer service and attention to detail. Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to multitask and coordinate several open projects at one time. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience in project coordination preferred/order entry preferred.
